Understand the fare
What belongs in a complete cruise budget?
Separate a cruise fare from excluded service charges, optional packages, shore spending, and travel to the port before comparing a sailing.
Add passenger extras and port travel to a complete quoted cruise fare.
Use the full quoted cruise amount per traveler, including taxes and mandatory charges. The field is a whole-sailing price, not a nightly price. If passengers have different fares, divide the full party fare by the number of passengers. Enter service charges separately only when they are not included in that fare. Optional extras are a whole-sailing allowance per passenger; travel to the port and pre/post-cruise lodging are one shared amount.
The formula is guests × (fare + nights × service charges + optional extras) + shared travel costs. With the illustrative defaults, two travelers × ($900 + five × $18 + $150) + $400 totals $2,680, or $1,340 each. The whole-party nightly equivalent is $536. No amount is a current cruise offer or a customary service-charge claim.
The result is a budget, not a supplier quote. Add insurance or other expenses to the appropriate allowance if you choose them. Confirm fare terms, passenger pricing, currency, and exclusions with the seller. A per-night figure spreads port travel over cruise nights and does not represent the nightly cost of a cabin.
